Recovery Readiness Checklist for Your Property

Middle East Recovery Series, Part 4 of 4

Over the past three parts of this series, we've covered a lot of ground. We talked about why demand hasn't disappeared, just shifted closer to home. We walked through the practical tools, staycations, vouchers, flexible policies, that protect cash flow while the regional market rebalances. And we made the case for why your direct channel is the single strongest asset you have right now.

This final part brings it all together into one thing: a checklist. Not a theory. A way to actually see where your property stands today, and exactly what to fix first.

Where you stand, where the gaps are, and what to fix first

Every hotel we've spoken with across the region is at a different stage of readiness. Some have already launched staycation packages and flexible rates. Others are still relying entirely on OTA volume and haven't touched their direct channel in months.

Neither position is a judgement. But only one of them puts you in control of what happens next.

Use the checklist below to score your property honestly across five areas. Wherever you're weakest is where to focus this month.

The five pillars of recovery readiness

1   Regional demand capture

  • Do you have a staycation or GCC resident package live on your homepage right now?

  • Does it speak to families driving or taking a short flight, rather than long-haul visitors?

  • Is it easy to find within one click of landing on your site?

If you answered no to any of these, this is your fastest win. Regional guests are already looking. Give them somewhere to land.

2    Flexibility and cash flow tools

  • Do you offer a fully flexible, refundable rate alongside your standard rate?

  • Can guests buy a voucher or gift card directly on your website?

  • When a guest cancels, do you offer a voucher option before defaulting to a refund?

Flexibility is what turns hesitation into a booking. Vouchers are what turn a cancellation into a future stay instead of a loss.

3   Direct channel strength

  • Is your direct rate the best available rate, matching or beating what's on the OTAs?

  • Have you tried booking a room on your own website recently, as a guest would?

  • Does your booking flow work smoothly on mobile?

Every guest who finds a better deal elsewhere, or gets stuck on a clunky booking flow, is a guest you paid to attract and then lost anyway.

4   Guest relationship and database activation

  • Have you sent a genuine, non-promotional message to your past guests in the last month?
  • Is your guest database segmented by geography, so you can prioritise GCC residents?
  • Is your pre-stay and post-stay guest communication automated, or does it depend on someone remembering to send it?

Your database is the one channel a platform can never take from you. It only works if you use it.

5   Visibility without upfront risk

  • Is your confidence messaging, flexibility, safety, openness, visible the moment someone lands on your site?
  • Are you currently paying for clicks or impressions on ads with no guarantee of a completed stay?
  • Have you explored a pay-per-stay model, where cost only applies after the guest checks out?

In a period where budgets are being watched closely, the hotels gaining ground are the ones spending only when revenue is confirmed, not when a guest simply clicks.

HOW THIS WORKS WITH PROFITROOM

Everything in this checklist maps directly to tools already built for exactly this moment. Booking Engine 360 handles your packages, vouchers, and flexible rates in one place. CRM and Marketing Automation activates your guest database without adding manual work. Pay-Per-Stay Advertising puts your property ahead of the OTAs in search results, with cost tied to completed stays rather than clicks. And our AI Agent picks up enquiries around the clock, in multiple languages, so fewer guests drop off before they book.

Score yourself

Give yourself one point for every "yes" above, out of a possible 15.

11 to 15: Recovery ready
You're well positioned. Keep refining and watch your direct share grow as regional demand strengthens.

6 to 10: Building momentum
You've made a start. Focus on your weakest pillar first rather than trying to fix everything at once.

0 to 5: Time to act
The good news is that most of what's missing can be set up within your existing Profitroom tools in a matter of days, not months.

Free Direct Booking Audit

If you'd like a second pair of eyes on your results, our team offers a free Direct Booking Audit for hotels in the region. No cost, no commitment, just an honest look at where you stand and what you could improve.
