A new simple way of pricing family stays with children

These times, when Guests are looking for a quick booking, the way offers are presented, with a clear calculation, is crucial in the competition for the Guest. Meeting the needs of hoteliers we have enhanced the Profitroom Booking Engine and added a new type of offer pricing.

It certainly is a great challenge to calculate an offer including all the configuration possibilities and the seasonality. Complex arrangements of rooms often lead to missing one of the possible combinations, which in turn results in a loss of a potential booking. These times, when Guests are looking for a quick booking, the way offers are presented, with a clear calculation, is crucial in the competition for the Guest. Meeting the needs of hoteliers we have enhanced the Profitroom Booking Engine and added a new type of offer pricing. Its greatest advantage consists in the guarantee that all the possible combinations of occupancy in a room will be added as well as in the possibility to add diverse price variants for children in the same age category.

How is the new pricing type enabled?

The new pricing options may be activated either when creating a new offer or when editing an existing offer. When editing or creating a new offer, select the "Additional persons" option from the "Pricing by occupancy" drop-down list of the "Pricing" tab.

How should the new type of pricing be used?

After selecting a new pricing option, a table will be displayed, which should be filled in according to the following instructions.

Pricing for adults

When creating a new pricing, the room rates for any number of adults should be specified.

In the above example:

• a one-day stay of one adult was priced at 100 EUR*
• a stay for two adults costs a total of 200 EUR.

*The currency depends on the hotel configuration

Pricing of children's stay

The new configuration provides us with the possibility to enter a different price for the stay of children in each particular age category*. The rates may therefore depend on whether children come with one or more adults.

In the above example:

• a one-day stay of one adult with two children at age of 3 will cost 180 EUR
• a one-day stay of two adults with one child at the age of 10 will be 250 EUR

The pricing for persons on extra beds

Specify the extra bed rates if you allow for extra beds in particular rooms. These prices will be used to calculate the persons who exceed the base occupancy number in the room. You can specify different rates for extra beds for the particular age groups.

In the above example:

• a stay of four adults costs 380 EUR
• a stay of three adults with one child at the age of 10 costs 350 EUR

What are the options of pricing a stay of a first child in a room?

The system now allows for pricing the first child with a lower rate. To activate this option select "Additional persons (first/others)" from the "Pricing by occupancy" menu.

In the above example:

• a stay for one adult with two children at the age of 10 costs 250 EUR

Adding varied prices for children's stay helps to make the offer more prominent against the packages offered by the competitors.

A number of assumptions have been made in the process of the new pricing creation in order to simplify the complex pricing aspects. They include an increase of the offer's competitiveness by adding different pricing options for children, including free stays, or the employment of a simple view that would foster the hoteliers' efficiency.

The new pricing view promotes a presentation of all room occupancy configurations, thus increasing the chance of making a booking by a potential Guest.
